AirHogs snap losing skid, defeat Lemurs 4-2

The Grand Prairie AirHogs brought their losing streak to an end Tuesday with a 4-2 victory over the Laredo Lemurs.

It was a great all-around pitching performance from the ‘Hogs, with Bennett Whitmore getting the win in his first start of the year. Whitmore allowed two runs on just two hits, with three strikeouts and a walk in six innings of work. The bullpen had a scoreless night, with Dakota Watts earning his 20th save of the season.

An RBI single by Brian Peterson (3-for-4) gave the ‘Hogs a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Down 2-1 in the sixth, Brian Myrow blasted a two-run homer to right field, his third long ball of the season. The ‘Hogs tacked on one more run in the seventh, when Madison Carter drove in Ryde Rodriguez with the bases loaded.

The AirHogs improved their record to 37-50 on the season. The rubber game of the series with Laredo is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at QuikTrip Park.
