GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – The contract of AirHogs outfielder Dillon Thomas has officially been purchased by the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Thomas, who was on pace to shatter the American Association’s all-time single-season doubles record, will be active with Milwaukee’s Advanced-A affiliate the Carolina Mudcats.
A Houston, Texas native, Thomas earned the American Association Rawlings Player of the Month in July. He hit .377 for the month with five home runs and 19 RBIs. Thomas clinched the award with an incredible individual performance July 29 in St. Paul, crushing two home runs and two doubles while picking up four runs scored and four RBIs.
Thomas paced the AirHogs in virtually every offensive category this season. His .333 average led the team and ranked 5th in the American Association. He pounded 37 doubles, the top number in the American Association this year and just six off the single-season mark set by Jorge Alvarez of El Paso in 2007. He currently leads the American Association in extra-base hits (51), OPS (1.021) and slugging percentage (.601).
A fourth round pick of the Rockies, Thomas spent 2011-2017 in the Colorado system, piling up 24 home runs and 202 RBIs over seven years with the organization. He reached as high as AAA Albuquerque in 2017 before joining the AirHogs.
