AMARILLO, Texas - The AirHogs took a doubleheader from the Lincoln Saltdogs to win the 3-game series Wednesday in Amarillo. Cody Hebner and Tyler Harris picked up wins in a 3-2 victory and an 8-4 victory respectively.
Hebner fired 6 innings of 2-run ball in Game 1. He allowed a couple of tallies on a 2-RBI single by Curt Smith in the 3rd inning, but stranded 5 in the 4th and the 5th to prevent further damage.
Cody Lenahan built him an early lead with a home run to right off of Lincoln starter Shairon Martis in the 2nd. Devon Rodriguez went deep himself in the 6th to erase a 2-1 deficit and put the team up 3-2 on the strength of his 2-run homer. The home run was the 3rd of the year for Lenahan, and the blast by Rodriguez was his 2nd of the year.
The AirHogs turned a season-high 4 double plays in getting the win. Alan Oaks induced 1 of those double plays in pitching a scoreless 7th and picking up his 3rd save. The win was the 2nd of the year for Hebner.
Tyler Harris started Game 2 and was solid, allowing 4 runs over 5.2 innings. His offense was able to get to Lincoln starter Jeff McKenzie early and often. The offense capitalized for 3 runs on RBI single by Mike Miller, Cody Lenahan, and Michael Hur in the 2nd. They would add 4 more in the 4th on 2-out base hits by Juan Sanchez and Brian Bistagne. Cody Lenahan would then add a 2-RBI double of his own. He finished 5 for 7 in the doubleheader with 2 doubles, a triple, a home run and 3 RBIs.
The win was the 2nd of the year for Harris, and Carlos Misell picked up his 6th save by entering with 2 on in a 7-4 game in the 6th before firing a scoreless final inning in the 7th.
The AirHogs (19-27) battle the Laredo Lemurs tomorrow in Amarillo at 7:05. LHP Griffin Russell is expected to start for the AirHogs.
