LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Lemurs used a 5 hits and 2 walks to rack up 5 runs in the 8th and run away with an 8-3 Game 1 win Monday at Uni-Trade Stadium. Kenny Peoples-Walls finished with 3 hits for the AirHogs.

Texas got off to a great start, with Leon Byrd blasting his 3rd home run of the season off Laredo starter Troy Marks in the 1st to make it 1-0. Griffin Russell held the Lemurs scoreless for his first 3 innings on the mound, facing just 11 over that span.

In the 4th, Laredo got key doubles from Jesus Posso and Zane Chavez to power a 2-run inning and assume a 2-1 lead. The AirHogs answered right back though, using a 2-RBI double by Juan Sanchez to score Peoples-Walls and Mike Miller and reclaim the advantage at 3-2.

Alvaro Rondon tied the game with an RBI single off Jack Karraker in the 6th, and the 3-3 mark held until the bottom half of the 8th. There, Laredo tagged Tyler Harris and Cody Culp for 5 runs on 4 singles plus the comeback’s highlight: a 2-RBI triple from DH Brennen Metzger.

Harris suffered his 2nd loss, while Danny Reynolds, who faced 7 and struck out 3 in 1 ⅔ innings, picked up his 1st win. With 3 singles, Peoples-Walls has reached 5 times over the last 2 games.

Devon Rodriguez picked up his 93rd and 94th hits of the season with 2 singles in the effort. Posso finished 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI for Laredo.
