KANSAS CITY, Kansas - The AirHogs won their series with the Kansas City T-Bones Sunday behind a convincing 6-1 finale victory. Cody Lenahan and Juan Sanchez each went deep for the 10th time in the contest.
The team got a strong start from LHP Griffin Russell, who earned his 2nd win of the season by going 6 1/3 innings and allowing just 1 run on 4 hits. Russell struck out 4 before handing the ball to Cody Culp, Trey Masek and Alan Oaks, who retired 8 straight to finish the game.
Lenahan's solo blast in the 2nd put the AirHogs on top against T-Bones starter Josh Hodges, whom the team tagged for 10 hits and 6 runs over 6 innings. Sanchez's 2-run shot in the 4th highlighted a 3-run inning.
Kenny Peoples-Walls racked up a single and a triple and scored twice. Brian Bistagne finished with 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
The AirHogs (30-56) travel to Amarillo to open a 3-game set with the Joplin Blasters Monday at Potter County Memorial Stadium. 1st pitch in Game 1 is slated for 7:05. LHP David Wayne Russo is expected to start.
