AMARILLO, Texas - Cody Lenahan smashed a walkoff 3-run home run to clinch the series finale for the Texas AirHogs 9-6 over the Joplin Blasters Wednesday. Lenahan finished with 5 hits to power a Game 3 victory that sealed the second series win in a row for the AirHogs.
Play got underway at Potter County Memorial Stadium at 10:05 am, with the 2 teams finishing a contest that was suspended due to a stadium power outage on Tuesday. Joplin held on for a 5-1 win, with Mario Morales getting the W and Roby Romero getting the save. Lenahan went deep Tuesday night for the only run in the contest for the AirHogs.
Diego Ibarra started the series finale for the AirHogs and gave the team 7 innings of 5-run, 3-earned work on the hill. The starter took a no-decision after the AirHogs lost a 5-4 lead in the 7th and 8th.
Trailing 6-5 in the 9th, Brian Bistagne was able to reach with a single. He subsequently stole his 21st base of the season and moved to 3rd on a wild pitch. Down to the last out, Devon Rodriguez delivered by driving him in to tie the contest at 6.
Each team threatened in the 10th but failed to break through. Jack Karraker pitched a scoreless top of the 11th to set the table for the dramatic win. Michael Hur and Nick Akins each reached ahead of Lenahan, who blasted off against Carlos Fuentes for his 3rd home run in his last 3 appearances and his 12th overall of the season in dramatic walkoff fashion.
Karraker picked up the win, the 1st of his professional career. The walkoff win was the 5th of the season for the AirHogs and the 1st in Amarillo. The 2 teams combined for 29 hits.
