WINNIPEG, MB -- The Texas AirHogs split their 4-game series with the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Shaw Park after falling in Game 4 3-0 Thursday. The team continues its 7-game road trip in Sioux City this weekend.
Tyler Bremer got the start for the AirHogs. The righty went 6 ⅔ innings, surrendering 5 hits and 3 runs (2 earned) while striking out 3 and walking 4. He surrendered a 2-run home run to Reggie Abercrombie in the 3rd before Wes Darvill scored after a pair of AirHogs errors in the 4th.
His counterpart Mikey O’Brien went 7, giving up just 2 hits before Mitchell Lambson and Ryan Chaffee finished the shutout for the Goldeyes. The AirHogs stranded 6 on the bases in the game, including 3 men on 2nd base in the 1st 3 innings. Winnipeg left 5.
Ryan Wagner finished with 2 hits, and Beamer Weems reached twice. Wagner was the only player for either team with multiple hits in the game.
Texas (6-20) travels to Sioux City to open a 3-game series vs. the Explorers (15-9) this weekend. 1st pitch tomorrow will be at 7:05 pm at Lewis and Clark Park. LHP James Russell (1-1, 2.61 ERA) is expected to start for the AirHogs vs. LHP Hobbs Johnson (2-0, 3.25 ERA) for Sioux City. A live broadcast of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
