AirHogs Acquire Casio Grider In Trade With Winnipeg

SIOUX CITY -- The Texas AirHogs have acquired infielder Casio Grider from the Winnipeg Goldeyes for a player to be named later.


Grider enjoyed a productive 2016 for the champion Goldeyes, hitting .279 with 11 home runs and 68 RBIs last regular season. He began his playing career in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in 2009, playing for their affiliates in Arizona, Ogden, Great Lakes, Rancho Cucamonga and Albuquerque. He joined the Goldeyes in 2015 and is currently enjoying his 9th professional season.


The 6-1, 195 lb. veteran will bring 3 seasons of American Association experience to the AirHogs. He is a .272 career hitter with 18 home runs and 107 RBIs over 3 years in the Association. At all levels of pro baseball, he has stolen 179 bases and accumulated 241 RBI. He is an alum of Newberry College and Darton College.


The AirHogs take on Sioux City in a doubleheader tonight at 6:05 at Lewis and Clark Park. LHP James Russell gets the start for the AirHogs in Game 1. A live stream of both games will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
