AirHogs Return Home After Sioux City Rubber Match Loss

SIOUX CITY -- The Texas AirHogs dropped the finale of their 7-game road trip Sunday at Lewis and Clark Park by a final of 11-6. Levi Scott finished with 2 hits, including his 3rd home run of the season, in the effort.


The Explorers got to AirHogs starter Roman Gomez for 6 runs in 3 innings of work. The AirHogs scored 5 times with 2 outs to pull within 6-5 in the top half of the 4th. Beamer Weems highlighted the biggest single inning of the year for the AirHogs bats with a 3-RBI triple.

Sioux City struck again in the bottom of the 4th, tagging relief man Billy Waltrip for 4 runs to re-expand the lead. Scott went deep in the 5th against Explorers starter Cody Forsythe, but the AirHogs would draw no closer than 10-6.


Gomez suffered his 2nd loss of the season, while Forsythe earned his 2nd win. Nate Samson and Jayce Ray each finished with 3 hits for the Explorers, who improved to 17-11 with the win. Brian Ragira finished with 2 hits, 1 RBI and 1 run scored for the AirHogs, who dropped to 7-22 with the loss.

The AirHogs finish their long road trip 3-4 after splitting in Winnipeg and falling in the concluding series in Sioux City. The team returns home to AirHogs Stadium for the 1st time in more than a week for a 3-game set vs. the Cleburne Railroaders (16-15).
