GRAND PRAIRIE -- The Texas AirHogs fell for the 2nd straight evening to the Cleburne Railroaders Tuesday at AirHogs Stadium. Patrick Mincey spun a gem to propel the visitors to a 9-1 win. The teams meet in a series finale tomorrow at 7:05.
Mincey pitched the full 9 for the Railroaders and held the AirHogs to just 4 hits before back-to-back-to-back singles by Denis Phipps, Brian Ragira and Ryan Wagner helped the AirHogs get on the board in the 9th. Phipps scored for the 2nd time in the series on Wagner's 4th RBI of the season.
The Railroaders got to AirHogs starter Tyler Bremer early. Mitch Glasser tagged him for a triple as the 1st batter of the game and Geraldo Valentin followed immediately with a 2-run home run. Bremer would surrender 3 more runs in the 3rd before Cleburne got to new Texas relievers Austin Kubitza and Jared Mortensen for 2 runs apiece.
Glasser finished with 2 hits and 3 runs scored in the game. Valentin finished with 4 RBIs and KC Huth added 2 of his own to fuel the Railroaders’ offense. Phipps turned in his 2nd multi-hit game of the series for Texas. He has now either personally scored or driven in 4 of the 5 runs the AirHogs have posted in the series.
Mincey dropped his ERA to 1.85 and improved to 5-0 with the win. Bremer took the loss, his 4th of the season. The AirHogs (7-24) close the series with Cleburne (18-15) tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Carlos Contreras (0-3, 4.94 ERA) is expected to get the start for the AirHogs vs. RHP Santos Arias (2-3, 4.22 ERA) for the visitors.
