GRAND PRAIRIE -- Denis Phipps finished with a home run and 2 RBIs, but the Texas AirHogs dropped their second contest in a 4-game series with the Lincoln Saltdogs 4-2 Friday evening. The teams continue the series tomorrow at AirHogs Stadium at 7:05.
TJ Bozeman got his 1st start of the season for the AirHogs. The righty, who entered play with a 2.41 ERA over 11 relief appearances, was tagged for a home run by Cesar Valera in the 1st to put Lincoln up 1-0. Bozeman surrendered 2 more runs in the 3rd and an unearned run in the 5th before exiting the game. He struck out 4.
His counterpart Carlos Pimentel held the AirHogs hitless over the 1st 6 ⅓ innings. Texas did get to him for a run in the 4th. Levi Scott drew a walk, stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on 1 of 2 errors in the game by the Saltdogs. Phipps picked up the RBI by driving him in on a sac fly.
Phipps broke up Pimentel’s no-no bid in the 7th, blasting his 2nd home run of the season over the left field wall. The solo blast brought the AirHogs within 2, but the team could not break through again vs. Pimentel or relievers Cameron McVey and Michael Wagner. Wagner picked up his 8th save (2nd of the series) by striking out the side in the 9th.
The win was the 5th of the season for Pimentel. Lincoln has now won all 7 of his starts in 2017. He struck out 8 and finished with 3 hits and 2 runs (1 earned) surrendered in 7 2/3 frames. Valera, Matty Johnson, Curt Smith, Trever Adams and Christian Ibarra all picked up multiple hits for the Saltdogs.

LHP Michael Freeman (0-1, 3.95 ERA) is set to start for the AirHogs vs. RHP Seth Webster (2-1, 3.08 ERA) for Lincoln. 1st pitch is slated for 7:05.
