GRAND PRAIRIE -- Michael Freeman threw 7 shutout innings to key a 2-1 win for the AirHogs vs. the Lincoln Saltdogs Saturday night. Denis Phipps and Beamer Weems each picked up RBIs in the victory.

Freeman struck out a season-high 8 in just his 5th professional start. He stranded 4 runners who reached with walks (plus 1 hit-by-pitch) in the 2nd and 3rd while facing the minimum in the 1st, 4th and 5th. His no-hitter bid was broken up in the 6th on an infield single by Curt Smith. Freeman issued 5 walks and stranded 7 in 7 frames of 0-run, 1-hit ball. The win was his 1st of 2017.

The AirHogs got to Lincoln starter for Seth Webster for a run in the 4th and a run in the 5th. In the 4th, Trevor Sealey reached on a single and stole 2nd before moving to 3rd on a wild pitch. With 2 outs and 2 strikes, Denis Phipps brought him home with a long double to left center that put Texas on top. The RBI was Phipps' 3rd in the last 2 games and his 16th of the season. Ryan Wagner reached with a triple to start the 5th and came home on a Weems single to extend the lead. The RBI was the 15th of the season for Weems.

The Saltdogs got on the board in the 8th on a solo home run by Brandon Jacobs off reliever Josh Blanco. Blanco emerged from the 8th without surrendering the lead by leaving Cesar Valera at 2nd after he reached on a hit-by-pitch. In the 9th, with the AirHogs clinging to a 1-run advantage, Luis De La Cruz allowed Ivan Marin to reach with a base hit but stranded him on 2nd to notch the save. For De La Cruz, it was the 4th save of the year and the 2nd of the homestand.

Freeman improved to 1-1 with the win. Webster, who threw 7 innings and struck out 7, dropped to 2-2 with the loss. The AirHogs outhit the Saltdogs 7-3. Phipps finished with 2 hits. He has reached safely in every game of the homestand and has reached at least twice in 5 of the 6 games so far.
