Bremer Brilliant In Homestand Finale Win

06/25/2017 9:25 PM -

GRAND PRAIRIE -- Tyler Bremer held the Lincoln Saltdogs to just 4 hits and 1 run over 7 superb innings to help the AirHogs to a homestand finale 4-1 win Sunday evening. Jake Taylor, Levi Scott and Ryan Wagner all had multi-hit games in the win. The AirHogs earned the split in their 4-game series with Lincoln and travel to Wichita tomorrow.

Bremer faced 9 over the first 2 innings and allowed a run on an RBI base hit by Christian Ibarra in the top of the 2nd. He settled down and allowed just 1 hit the rest of the way. He faced the minimum from the 3rd through the 7th and set aside 14 straight to conclude his evening. He struck out 4 and did not issue a walk in picking up his 2nd victory of the season.

After falling behind in the 2nd, the AirHogs bats responded in the 3rd. Trevor Sealey reached with 1 of 5 walks issued by Ben McKendall, the Lincoln starter who fell to 1-2 with the loss, to begin the frame. He was brought home on a sac fly by Denis Phipps that tied the game at 1. Jake Taylor, who reached with a single, scored on an RBI base hit by Ryan Wagner to give the AirHogs the lead.

The team extended the advantage in the 7th against Saltdogs relief man JR Bunda. Ryne Willard began the frame with a single and came in on an RBI double by Casio Grider. Grider himself scored on an RBI double by Scott to make it 4-1.

AirHogs reliever Josh Blanco induced a double play to escape a 2-on, 1-out situation unscathed in the 8th, and closer Luis De La Cruz induced a double play of his own in the 9th to notch his 5th save and his 3rd of the 7-game homestand. Scott and Taylor each reached 3 times in the game, and all 9 spots in the AirHogs order either reached base or picked up an RBI. Texas has now won 2 straight and 3 of 5.

The AirHogs (10-26) travel to Wichita to take on the Wingnuts (25-11) tomorrow at 7:05 in the 1st of a 4-game set. RHP Carlos Contreras (1-3, 4.28 ERA) is expected to start for the AirHogs vs. RHP Alex Boshers (4-2, 4.96 ERA) for Wichita. A live broadcast will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
