07/08/2017 10:11 PM -

GRAND PRAIRIE -- The Texas AirHogs won their 4th straight and for the 7th time in 8 contests Saturday at AirHogs Stadium, downing the Salina Stockade 11-3. The team goes for the series sweep tomorrow at 6:05 pm.

Jared Mortensen picked up the win by turning in a strong start. He went 6 innings, striking out 5 and surrendering 6 hits and 3 runs (3 earned). The win was his 2nd of the season.

The AirHogs built him a lead in the 1st when Trevor Sealey doubled off Salina starter Jordan Cummings and scored on a wild pitch and an error. The team added 2 more in the 2nd on a triple by Ryne Willard that scored Ryan Wagner and Beamer Weems.

Texas built the lead to 5-0 before Salina tagged Mortensen for 3 runs on RBIs by Aaron Olivas, Troy Paris and Kewby Meyer in the 5th. The AirHogs quickly re-expanded the advantage though, batting 12 and running up 6 tallies in the 6th against a trio of Stockade relief men.

The 11 runs in the game were a season-high for the club, and the 8-run margin matched a season-high for a single contest. Texas has now won 3 straight series. Willard finished with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Brian Ragira also finished with 3 hits and added 2 RBIs. Charley Thurber racked up 2 hits and a pair of RBIs of his own. Ryan Wagner reached base 4 times.

Jacob Morris and newcomer Kevin Hilton combined for 3 scoreless innings out of the Texas bullpen to finish the evening. Salina walked 5 men and issued 5 hit-by-pitches. AirHogs arms, by contrast, did not allow a walk or a hit-by-pitch in the game.

Mortensen improved to 2-1 with the win. The loss moved Cummings to 0-1 this season. The AirHogs (18-30) finish the series vs. Salina (5-43) tomorrow at 6:05. RHP TJ Bozeman (2-3, 2.95 ERA)  is expected to start for Texas vs. RHP Josh Hodges (0-1, 11.17 ERA) for the Stockade.
