GRAND PRAIRIE -- The Texas AirHogs are proud to announce the signing of RHP Rob Tasin. A former Winnipeg Goldeye, Tasin won an American Association championship in 2016.
Tasin is an alum on the University of Oklahoman as well as Texarkana College. In 2013, his 1st year at OU, Tasin went 1-0 with an ERA of 3.29, making 19 appearances, including 5 starts. In 2014 and 2015 with the Sooners, he combined to win 13 games while posting season ERAs of 4.80 and 2.52.
Tasin was selected in the 19th round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies and debuted for their Williamsport affiliate that summer. In Williamsport, Tasin racked up 17 saves in 25 appearances. He finished 22 New York-Penn League contests.
He split 2016 between Single-A Lakewood of the South Atlantic League and Winnipeg. Tasin went 1-3 with 4.93 ERA with Lakewood before joining the Goldeyes. In his American Association debut season, he made 19 appearances, finishing 11 games and clinching 3 saves. He finished the year 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. Tasin threw 22 innings for the Goldeyes, striking out 17 and walking 10.
The 25-year-old began the 2017 season with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League, making 17 appearances and finishing 5 games. He was 0-0 in Evansville with an ERA of 5.28.
The 6-1, 190-pound righty signed with the AirHogs Monday. He and the team travel to Sioux City tomorrow to open a 3-game set at Lewis and Clark Park vs. the Sioux City Explorers. 1st pitch is slated for 7:05. A live broadcast will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
