AirHogs Fall In Finale vs. Canaries Despite 10 Bremer Strikeouts

GRAND PRAIRIE -- Tyler Bremer struck out a season-high 10 batters, but the AirHogs fell in the final game before the All-Star break by a final of 5-2 to the Canaries Sunday. Casio Grider reached 3 times in the game.

Jabari Henry hit his 16th home run of the season off Bremer in the 1st to make it 1-0 Sioux Falls. Former AirHog Burt Reynolds picked up an RBI in the 2nd with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 2-0.

Trevor Sealey helped score Ryan Wagner with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 2nd to halve the Canaries lead. Sioux Falls struck back in the 3rd and 5th with single runs to run their lead to 4-1. Mike Miller smacked his 2nd homer of the season in the 7th to get the AirHogs within 2 again before the visitors tagged Josh Blanco for a couple of singles and a run in the 8th.

Ty Morrison was the only Sioux Falls batter to finish with multiple hits in the game. He finished with 3 hits in 4 at-bats. Wagner and Grider each finished with multiple hits for the AirHogs. Grider reached 3 times but was stranded 3 times in scoring position. He recorded the Texas defensive highlight of the game, catching Morrison from right trying to score on a sacrifice fly in the 8th.

Bremer finished with 7 innings pitched. He threw 116 pitches, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs (4 earned) while becoming the 3rd AirHogs starter this season to strike out 10 in a game. He dropped to 4-5 with the loss.

His counterpart Joe Bircher allowed 2 runs over 7 innings, scattering 7 hits while striking out 2 and walking 1. He improved to 4-5 this season with the win. Jose Ortega notched his 12th save of the season by working a 1-2-3 9th.

The AirHogs will enjoy 2 days off before traveling to Kansas City Wednesday for a 4-game set. 1st pitch in Kansas is set for 7:05. A live broadcast will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
