GRAND PRAIRIE -- The Texas AirHogs won their 3-game series with Salina Wednesday night, downing the Stockade by a final fo 7-3 in the set's rubber match. Charley Thurber finished with 2 extra base hits in the win, including a 3-run home run, his 2nd blast of the series.

TJ Bozeman got the start for the AirHogs and improved to 5-5 on the season by striking out 8 and lasting a season-high 7 ⅔ innings without surrendering an earned run. Outside of 3 unearned runs in the 5th, Bozeman gave the Stockade fits all evening, going over 100 pitches in a duel with fellow righty Josh Hodges.

Hodges, the Salina starter, would go 7 ⅔ innings himself. Thurber took him for the 3-run long ball in the 1st after Hodges walked both Alvaro Rondon and Denis Phipps. The homer was Thurber’s 2nd in 3 evenings and 4th of the season. Rondon added a single in the 2nd that scored Mike Miller to run the AirHogs’ lead to 4-0.

The Stockade got a 3-RBI double from Jordan Caillouet in the 5th after a Texas error extended the inning to draw within 4-3. Hodges kept Salina in it by setting aside 17 in a row from the end of the 2nd through the outset of the 8th, when Rondon reached on a 1-out error and scored on a 2-out single by Denis Phipps. The RBI was the 44th of the season for Phipps.

Thurber would then double before Levi Scott picked up 2 RBIs with a base hit that chased Hodges from the game. The RBIs were the 3rd and 4th over the last 2 nights for Scott. He now stands at 31 RBIs for the year. Hodges suffered the loss and dropped to 3-4 this season with Salina and 6-7 overall.

The series win was the 8th of the season for the AirHogs. Each team finished with 5 hits in the game. Salina accumulated 3 errors.
