GRAND PRAIRIE -- The Texas AirHogs got out to a 3-0 lead but could not hang on in the opener of a 4-game set at AirHogs Stadium vs. Cleburne Thursday. The Railroaders struck 6 times from the 6th through the 9th to claim a 6-3 victory.

Michael Freeman got the start for the AirHogs and held the Railroaders scoreless for the 1st 5 frames. The Texas bats built him a lead, with Charley Thurber and Levi Scott scoring on a passed ball and an error in the 4th before Thurber picked up an RBI base hit in the 5th to inflate the advantage to 3-0.

Geraldo Valentin hit his 3rd home run of the season off Freeman in the 6th before Cleburne drove the starter from the game in the 7th. He was replaced by Jacob Morris. The visitors scored 2 unearned runs that frame on a sacrifice fly by Alex Polston and an RBI single by Blake Grant-Parks, both credited to Freeman, who surrendered 4 runs (1 earned) in slipping to 4-4 with the loss.

Alberto Rodriguez overcame 6 walks to put together 7 frames of 3-run ball and move to 4-5 with the win. Casey Upperman pitched the 8th for Cleburne. With the score at 4-3, Levi Scott took him for a double to leadoff the penultimate turn at bat but became 1 of 8 (6 in scoring position) left by Texas in the game.

Polston took Luis De La Cruz for a 2-run home run in the 9th to make it 6-3 before Winston Abreu finished off the contest by striking out the side. The save was the 16th of the season for Abreu.

Ryan Wagner reached 3 times in the game. Thurber was on base twice. He has now reached base twice in every game he has played in since August 4th.
