GRAND PRAIRIE -- Jared Mortensen and Rob Tasin combined to put away 20 in a row Saturday night to cap a 3-1 win for the AirHogs over the Cleburne Railroaders. AirHog bats tallied 10 hits in support of the stellar pitching effort.

Mortensen was tagged for 4 hits and 1 run over the 1st 3 innings before settling in to face the minimum in the 4th through the 8th. Mortensen’s 17 in a row retired from the end of the 3rd through the 8th were the most set aside by an AirHogs starter consecutively this season.

Mortensen joined TJ Bozeman as the 2 AirHogs starters this month who have faced 18 in a row without allowing a hit. Mortensen’s longest outing of the season (8 innings) netted him 6 strikeouts and improved him to 6-1 on the season.

The AirHogs loaded the bases against his counterpart Laetten Galbraith in the 2nd, scoring once to equalize the contest at 1-1. The team once again loaded the bases in the 6th vs. Galbraith and this time cashed in twice on an RBI walk by Charley Thurber and an RBI single by Levi Scott to make it a 3-1 game.

Tasin would enter in the 9th and retire the side to notch his 2nd save of the season. The loss dropped Galbraith to 0-1. Will Mathis threw 3 frames of scoreless relief behind the Railroaders starter.

Cleburne turned an Association-best 5 double plays in the game to stay in it, but, in the end, AirHogs pitching was simply too much. Scott finished with 3 hits in the game. He has reached safely in every contest for the AirHogs since August 4th. Alvaro Rondon finished the game 2 for 4 and moved to 41 stolen bases on the season. He is now 16 shy of the all-time American Association record for a single season.

The AirHogs (31-47) go for the split in the 4-game set with the Cleburne Railroaders (35-45) tomorrow at 6:05. The starter for the AirHogs is to be announced. Cleburne is expected to start Patrick Mincey (6.67, 3.35 ERA). Texas currently trails Cleburne by 3 games for 2nd place in the South Division standings.
