AirHogs Fall Short In Finale vs. Cleburne

GRAND PRAIRIE -- Alvaro Rondon, Casio Grider and Levi Scott all picked up RBIs, but the Texas AirHogs dropped the series finale with the Cleburne Railroaders 6-3 Sunday at AirHogs Stadium. Texas remains at home to host Salina in a 4-game set that will begin at 7:05 pm tomorrow.

The AirHogs led 2-1 after 3 thanks to an RBI base hit by Rondon and a sac fly RBI by Grider in the bottom of the 3rd. Leuris Gomez, in his 2nd start of the season and 1st with Texas, pitched 4 ⅓ innings of 2-run ball before giving way to Kevin Hilton. Hilton stranded 2 aboard in the 5th before surrendering the go-ahead run in the 6th.

The Railroaders would plate 3 against Luis De La Cruz in the 7th and 8th, 2 on the 2nd home run of the series by Geraldo Valentin in the 7th. Scott picked up his RBI, his 6th in the last 6 games, with a double that scored Trevor Sealey in the 8th. Sealey scored twice in the game.


Ryne Willard finished with 2 hits to lead the AirHogs. Valentin finished with 4 hits and 5 times reaching to pace the Railroaders. He accumulated 3 RBIs. Hilton dropped to 0-2 with the loss. Cleburne starter Patrick Mincey, who limited the AirHogs to 4 hits and 2 runs over 7 innings, moved to 7-7 with the win. Winston Abreu picked up his 18th save by stranding 1 in the 9th.

The AirHogs (31-48) begin a 3-game set with the Salina Stockade (14-65) starting at 7:05 tomorrow. The AirHogs are expected to start RHP TJ Bozeman (5-5, 3.15 ERA). Salina is expected to start RHP Josh Hodges (3-4, 5.44 ERA). A live stream of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs and American Association Baseball TV.
