GRAND PRAIRIE -- The Texas AirHogs are happy to announce the signing of LHP Chris Cotton. An LSU alum, Cotton signed with the team on August 14th and is available to pitch for Texas during the current series vs. Salina.
A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Cotton played for the LSU Tigers from 2010-2013, going 13-1 over 104 appearances in relief. He recorded 18 saves during his collegiate career and finished with a 2.27 ERA.
The Houston Astros drafted Cotton in the 14th round of the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft. He played at every level of the Astros system from 2013 through 2016. He made 18 appearances for Houston’s AAA affiliate in Fresno over 2 seasons. In 2017, he joined the Dodgers organization, playing for affliates in Rancho Cucamonga and Tulsa. Career in affiliated ball, Cotton went 9-12 with a 3.24 ERA and 15 saves.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes inked Cotton to a deal in late July. He made 4 appearances for the Goldeyes before signing with the AirHogs this week.
The AirHogs (32-48) and Salina Stockade (14-66) meet today at 3:05 pm. RHP Scott Firth (2-5, 5.36 ERA) is expected to start for the AirHogs. LHP Troy Mannebach (2-5, 4.81 ERA) is expected to start for Salina. A live stream of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs and American Association Baseball TV.
