GRAND PRAIRIE -- The Texas AirHogs fell in Game 2 of 4 vs. the Cleburne Railroaders Saturday at AirHogs Stadium by a final of 5-2. Jake Taylor and Alvaro Rondon picked up RBIs in the contest.
RHP Cal Drummond started for the AirHogs and lasted 7.1 innings. He was tagged for 4 runs (4 earned) while striking out 7 and allowing 7 hits and 4 walks. He slipped to 7-4 with the loss.
The AirHogs tagged LHP Will Mathis for a run in the 1st on the 2nd RBI of the series from Taylor. The 1-0 lead was erased in the 3rd before a KC Huth leadoff home run keyed a 2-run 5th for the Railroaders.
Rondon picked up an RBI in the bottom of the 5th, and the AirHogs bats left men on the corners in the 6th before Cleburne posted single tallies in the 7th vs. Drummond and in the 9th vs. Jesse Pratt to put the game away.
Cleburne was led by Nick Van Stratten, who finished 1 for 3 with a run and 2 RBIs. Huth finished 2 for 4 with the home run and 2 runs scored. Mathis moved to 1-1 after allowing 4 hits, 2 runs and striking out a season-high 8. Winston Abreu picked up his 24th save of the season with a 1-2-3 9th. He has converted all 8 save opportunities vs. the AirHogs this season. Denis Phipps and Ryne Willard led the AirHogs with 2 hits apiece.
Texas (42-56) continues the series with Cleburne (46-51) tomorrow. 1st pitch is slated for 6:05 pm. RHP Leuris Gomez is expected to start for the AirHogs.
