Ijames homer leads AirHogs rally in 9-7 Victory.

The AirHogs entered the 9th inning trailing 7-5 but ended up winning it 9-7 thanks to a 4 run ninth inning rally.


The AirHogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second after Stewart Ijames singled and then scored on an RBI groundout from Chen JunPeng.


The Dogs has a quick answer in the bottom of the inning with two solo home runs off the bat of Roache and Martinez to take a 2-1 lead.

The AirHogs answered back in the 3rd inning by scoring 3 runs on four hits and a throwing error. Ijames has a sacrifice fly in the inning and Jin Jun and RBI single.

Gan Quan ran out of gas in the bottom of the fourth inning though. After getting the first out Quan walked back to back batters, then allowed an RBI single, a sacrifice fly and a two run double. He was unable to get out of the fourth. Ryan smith pitched the rest of the fourth and the fifth inning, allowing a solo homerun, extending the Chicago lead to 6-4.

Tyler Matzek pitched the 6th and 7th innings. He allowed a run as well after walking the bases loaded and hitting a batter in the 6th.

Ijames would double home another run for the AirHogs in the 7th inning to cut the Chicago lead to 7-5.

And that was the lead when the AirHogs entered the 9th inning. After a leadoff walk to pinch hitter Josh Prince, Javion Randle doubled to left center to put runners on second and third with no outs. Li Ning then singled to center to bring home Prince. After a strikeout of Jonathan Moroney, Stewart Ijames stepped up down one with two runners on base. Ijames then connected with the second pitch of the at-bat sending a deep fly ball over the wall in right putting the AirHogs up 9-7, a score that would go final. The win secured the AirHogs first series win of the season as they look for the sweep tomorrow.

The AirHogs and Chicago Dogs play the series finale tomorrow at 7:05. The AirHogs will send RHP Cui Enting and the Dogs are pitching LHP Austin Wright.
