AirHogs lose game 2 in early 10am start

AirHogs vs RedHawks 2

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The AirHogs fell back to .500 on the young season Tuesday in Grand Prairie, falling to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks by a final of 4-1. The visitors used a strong start by southpaw Tyler Alexander to notch a win and force a rubber match Wednesday morning.

The RedHawks got off to a good start against Cody Hebner, racking up 3 hits and scoring 3 runs with the help of a walk and an error. Josh Mazolla, who homered in the first inning of Game 1, picked up 2 more RBI to score Chad Mozingo and Ryan Pineda. Brian Humphries scored Mazolla with an RBI double of his own to expand the lead.

Hebner would settle down from there, but his counterpart Tyler Alexander held the AirHogs hitless through 5. Brian Bistagne finally broke through with an infield single in the 6th but an inning-ending L1-3 double play on a great play by Alexander defused the threat.

After KD Kang drove Hebner from the game in the top of the 6th with a single to score Kes Carter, AirHog relief men Tyler Ihrig and Richard Suniga took over and held the RedHawks scoreless. But the offense could not provide enough in support. Burt Reynolds led off the 7th with a triple and came in on a sacrifice fly to left by Austin Gallagher. From there though, the team would be held off. Firemen Colton Reavis and Travis Ballew stranded 3 combined in the 8th and 9th to seal the win for the RedHawks.

Fargo (3-3) and the AirHogs (3-3) meet again tomorrow at 10:05 am. The visitors will throw American Association Pitcher of the Week, RHP Richie Mirowski. LHP Griffin Russell will get his second start of the year for the home team.

A live radio broadcast of the game will be available on mixlr.com/TXAirHogs. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting airhogsbaseball.com or by calling 972-237-7695.
