The AirHogs once again saved the best for last, coming from behind to push the game into extra innings before eventually winning 8-5.

Zhang Tao offered one of his best starts of the season, working 7 innings of 4 run baseball. He did allow two solo home runs, both off the bat of Colin Willis. But for the first time all season Zhang Tao worked past the 6th inning, and most importantly he kept the game close until the team pounced in the 8th.

The AirHogs bats woke up in a big way in the 8th inning, plating 3 runs and taking a 5-4 lead. Chen Junpeng had a huge 2 out RBI in the inning.

Unfortunately that lead could not be held. Li Xuhong dropped a crucial pop up in foul territory, allowing MJ Rookard to continue his at bat. He eventually singled and came around to score, tying the game 5-5.

Pete Perez was excellent out of the ‘pen, working two shutout innings earning the win. He kept the game tied heading into the 11th. The AirHogs offense once again pounced for 3 runs, the biggest hit was a go ahead double from Justin Byrd.

Carlos Contreras came on for the ninth, working his 3rd game in only 2 days. You couldn’t tell based on his performance. Contreras shut the door on the RailCats preserving the come from behind win.

The AirHogs are off Thursday before taking on the T-Bones in a 3 game, 2 day series starting with a double header on Friday. The AirHogs will toss Cui Enting in game one and Zech Lemond in game two of the double dip.
